Biography
Jeremy West holds a Master of Music from the
University of Kansas, a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, and a
Bachelor of Arts in French and Spanish from Samford University in Birmingham,
AL. He is an avid composer, and currently studies composition with Mark
Hayes. Major teachers include Jack Winerock,
Donald Sanders, Enid Katahn and Kathryn Fouse in piano, Harry Edward Tibbs in organ, Mark
Hayes and K. Lee Scott in composition and arranging, and
Ann Sargent in clarinet. He has performed in master classes with
several concert artists and renowned teachers such as Leon Fleisher and
Constance Carroll. Mr. West is one of the few nationally certified teacher of music in Central Florida. Mr. West has
held a number of teaching posts, including Alabama School of Fine Arts, The
University of Kansas, The Music Clubhouse (a piano studio started by a
student of Frances Clarke of the New School for Music Study), and the Samford
University Preparatory Department. His students have won many prizes at
the local and state levels. Mr. West is also an avid participant in the
music community, having worked to establish the Kansas Youth Chorale and
serving several churches in Birmingham and Topeka, KS.
Most recently, Mr. West has been affiliated with
many performing arts organizations, reaching out to the education community
in concerts, festivals, and programs.
Many of these programs take him to Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the
Kennedy Center, as well as other festivals and bowl games, including the Macy’s
Parade and Disney Performing Arts throughout the year.
